UNDP
UNDP is the global development network of the United Nations, working with its partners at the grassroots level in 174 countries, encouraging them to support their own solutions to global, national and local development challenges. The UNDP has had extensive experience in working at decentralized levels and has an on-going collaboration program with several European regions.
In each country office, the UNDP Resident Representative normally also serves as the Resident Coordinator of development activities for the United Nations system as a whole. Through such coordination, the UNDP seeks to ensure the most effective use of UN and international aid resources to every country.
Furthermore, UNDP has launched the Millennium Development Goals, an ambitious agenda for reducing poverty and improving the lives that world leaders agreed on at the Millennium Summit held in September 2000. For achieving each goal, several targets have been set, most to be achieved by 2015 using 1990 as a benchmark.
